Sony Ericsson vs Ericsson

1, My 5th (newest) phone
2, My 1st phone circa 2000

I brought my new Sony Ericsson W950i back to Hong Kong and bought a pay as you go card. However the stupid W950i phone had a Vodafone network lock on it, and because it is such a new phone the people in some "shops" weren't able to unlock it for me.

So I had to resort to my first mobile phone, which has been sitting quietly in my drawer for years. I charged it up and it works perfectly fine, and it is fun to look at my contact list from 6 years ago. There are some people who are still on my current contact list, but quite a number of people didn't make it...

Hong Kong - Day 3

Today I went hiking in the morning. Lunched at a seafood restaurant. Went back in town and shopped. Ate dinner with my grandma.

Hong Kong - Day 2

1, A giant christmas tree
2, Me in front of the giant christmas tree
3, On my way to one of my many food appointments

Today:
Shopping
1, Mizuno thermo knee bands (I am going to get a number of different knee supports and see which ones are good for me. It seems more and more likely that my knees will be the first to give up on me)

2, JoJo's Bizzare Adventure (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JoJo%27s_Bizarre_Adventure)
The good thing about being away for 8 months is that now I get to read all the 10 volumes I've missed in one go! This is an epic manga, it has been running since 1987 and I've been following it since I was like 12 and now it is in its 7th reincarnation, amazing! And I love the style he draws!
Merry Christmas!

Hong Kong - Day 1

1, Waiting for my luggage
2, Delicious dinner at my sister's place
3, I will be using my old computer for the next three weeks

The Chinese Mitten Crab is considered a delicacy here and they can fetch some £10-15 each when they are in season. I haven't had them for a long long time since the timing was always wrong when I came back, so I indulged this time....

In fact there are fewer and fewer mitten crabs in China these days because of over catching, though apparently they have found their way to Europe with some of the cargo ships and now they have become quite a problem in places like Holland and England, and they don't know how to get rid of them.

How silly, just give them all to me!

Hong Kong - Day 0

1, Packing up
2, Fog (viewed from aircraft)

I went to the airport 3 hours early just in case there was any complications with my flight, and surprisingly the airport was pretty empty because those who had their flights cancelled due to the fog simply didn't come to the airport at all. But of course my flight was delayed for 2 hours because the fog was simply too thick.

Well in the end my flight took off so that's good enough, though the guy sitting next to me was quite smelly. Urgh.

London Fog

London (and half of the UK) is covered by really thick fog this week. It didn't really bother me and I thought it was kind of cool......... UNTIL I realised that hundreds of flights, virtually all domestic flights and some European flights are cancelled, causing chaos in the airports.

Apparently long haul flights (e.g. My flight, today!) are not cancelled but this is giving me enough stress that I could only run for 10 mins on the cross training machine instead of the standard 60 mins. Urgh

Shortbus

Yesterday I went to see Shortbus with Chris, Joakim and his friend Nima at Curzon Soho. It is a bit hard to talk about the movie but I really liked it. It is by the same director who made Hedwig and the Angry Inch, but it was completely different. In a very strange way I found the movie very uplifting and sad at the same time.

This guy James in the movie said "I realised I am still looking for the same thing I was looking for when I was 12" Isn't that so true, how sad.

Volleyball Shoes

I've been wearing my old pair of volleyball shoes for two years and it is about time to get a new pair. This is what I want to get over Christmas: Mizuno Wave Bio Jump II. yum

All You Can Eat Sushi

There is this all-you-can-eat sushi place Gili Gulu I go to whenever I feel like eating a lot. The sushi there is not great but at least I can eat as much as I want. In this particular instance I had 23 plates of sushi, which is 2 plates short of my normal 25-plate standard... I think the waitresses hate me because I eat too much!

Countries I Have Visited

I've realised that I haven't visited that many countries....
My target is to visit a new place every year. This year I went to Berlin for the first time (and I ended up going back many times this year...) and hopefully next year I will visit a new country at some point.

Augustine House, Canterbury Christ Church University

These are the two latest images of the project I have been working on. It will be a 12,500m2 Learning Centre (aka library), Student Support (aka offices) and a multi-purpose hall for the Canterbury Christ Church University. It is due for planning application next week (!!) so obviously I will be very very busy, urgh.

Drink of the Day

Green Tea Powder from Fancl. I am basically trying to finish all the herbal remedies my Mum sent me because when I go back to Hong Kong over Christmas I am going to be given a lot of them again!
