My office moved from Soho to London Bridge a couple of months ago. Since then my daily walk to work has become more scenic, including crossing the river over Tower Bridge. Everyday I walk across it I wondered when it is going to flip open to let boat / ships through but that never happened, so I started to think that there is really no need for it to open anymore.Until today! It opened in the morning on my way to work, and it opened again on my way back from work! It is sort of a nice break to stare at something, but then if you are in a hurry you'd probably get quite frustrated to be stuck there for 10mins.

Beautiful shoot! My son had the same curiosity like you and was standing next to the Tower Bridge for many hours to see if it would open and finally found that it was open at late night that day. How interesting!
Yes and after that day I have seen it open a couple of times again! I guess it opens all the time :)
lucky you - my walk would be from tower hill station through minories into the bloody boring aldgate~!
